100 Waves Later (formerly Zombie RNG) is a high-intensity survival game on Roblox where players face endless hordes of zombies in wave-based combat. Each run is unique thanks to RNG weapon drops, forcing you to adapt on the fly. Success requires tactical thinking, resource management, and strategic planning across both short-term battles and long-term progression.

Players can approach the game solo or in teams. Solo players often benefit from using the Engineer class to hold positions with turrets, while team play allows for synergy between support, damage, and tank roles. Every 10 waves, powerful Bosses spawn, rewarding Crate Keys and rare weapons—making preparation and skill stacking essential.

Getting Started: First Steps in the Lobby

The lobby is where long-term strategy begins. Before jumping into combat, focus on these:

  • Class Selector: Beginners start with the Soldier or no class. Saving 20,000 Scrap to unlock Soldier is recommended. Afterward, aim for Wastelander, which scales extremely well for late-game waves.
  • Upgrade Booth: Use Scrap to raise a weapon’s Star Rating. Even basic weapons, like a Pump Shotgun, become extremely powerful at 5 Stars, capable of carrying early- and mid-game runs. Prioritize your main weapon rather than spreading Scrap across multiple guns.
  • Daily Rewards: Logging in daily is critical. On Day 7, the Engineer class becomes available for free. Its Auto-Turret provides passive damage and crowd control, making solo runs far more manageable.

Your First Few Waves

Early waves are about survival and smart play, not rushing. Most runs start with a weak Pistol, so efficiency is key.

  • Conserve Ammo: Randomly firing into zombies is a quick way to fail. Focus on headshots to maximize damage per bullet and reduce reload frequency. Fewer reloads mean fewer vulnerable moments.
  • Choose Skills Wisely: After Wave 1, you’ll get your first random skill. For beginners:
    1. Move Speed – essential for kiting and repositioning.
    2. Gun Damage – faster kills, better ammo efficiency.
    3. Reload Speed – prevents getting caught mid-reload.

Avoid picking niche skills early unless they synergize perfectly with your weapon.

  • Identify High-Priority Targets:
    • Necromancers (glowing units) – heal nearby zombies; always target first.
    • Suicide/Explosive Zombies – maintain distance to avoid massive damage.
    • Chargers – fast, deadly; eliminate quickly.
    • Tanks – strong but slow; focus after quicker threats are cleared.

Weapons & Combat Strategy

Weapons are the core of survival in 100 Waves Later. Each run presents RNG weapon drops, so adaptability is crucial. Back in the lobby, Scrap can upgrade weapons permanently, linking short-term luck to long-term progression.

  • Shotguns: Currently dominate the meta. Multi-hit shots combined with Bullet Pierce can wipe entire lines of zombies.
  • Avoid Miniguns/LMGs early: Heavy, slow reloads, and high ammo consumption make them risky without proper upgrades.

Loot System

In 100 Waves Later, survival isn’t just about shooting zombies—it’s also about collecting and managing resources. Loot fuels your progression, powers weapon upgrades, unlocks classes, and ensures you’re prepared for higher waves and Bosses. There are three main loot systems: Scrap, Crates, and Mystery Boxes.

1. Scrap (Screws/Bolts)

What it is: Scrap is the in-game currency dropped by nearly all zombies. It’s used to upgrade weapons and unlock classes.

Uses:

  • Upgrade weapons at the lobby booth to increase Star Ratings.
  • Unlock new classes that change your playstyle and give perks.

Tips for Beginners:

  • Focus on one or two main weapons and upgrade them fully to 5 Stars. Multiple partially upgraded weapons are weaker than a single maxed-out weapon.
  • If you’re struggling with Scrap, use the Scavenger class, which has a Level 3 perk that doubles Scrap drops.

Crate System

Crates are the main source of new weapons and resources. Unlike Scrap, which you earn constantly, Crates require Crate Keys to open. Keys are earned every 10 waves or by defeating Bosses.

Crate Types:

Crate TypeRarityUnlock TimeTypical Rewards
Rusty JunkCommon30 MinutesCommon weapons (Pistols), small amounts of Scrap
Metal CrateRare2 HoursRare/Epic weapons (Pump Shotgun, Assault Rifle), moderate Scrap
Tactical CaseEpic8 HoursEpic/Legendary weapons, high Scrap, Class XP
Plasma CoreLegendary24 HoursGuaranteed high-tier weapon (Plasma Shotgun, Gatling Laser)

Crate Strategy Tips

  • Always have a crate running while you play to earn passive rewards.
  • Prioritize high-tier crates; don’t waste keys on Rusty Junk if you have Metal, Tactical, or Plasma crates.
  • Crates are your path to mid- and late-game weapons—plan which ones to open in advance.

Mystery Boxes

What they are: Occasionally, zombies drop Mystery Boxes during a run. These provide temporary bonuses or weapon upgrades for the current wave.

Instant Rewards Include:

  • Max Ammo refill
  • Nuke (clears all zombies in the area)
  • Temporary weapon drops

Class Synergy:

  • The Scavenger class increases the drop rate of Mystery Boxes.
  • If you get a duplicate weapon, Scavenger perks allow you to reroll for a different item.

Tips:

  • Always pick up Mystery Boxes when possible—they can turn the tide during difficult waves.
  • Use them strategically on mid- or late-game waves, especially when facing Bosses or Necromancers.

Loot Management Strategies

  1. Always Be Unlocking: Start a crate timer before entering a match so you earn rewards passively.
  2. Key Hoarding: Save keys for higher-tier crates (Metal, Tactical, Plasma).
  3. Focus on Scrap: Upgrade one primary weapon fully before investing in secondary weapons.
  4. Day 7 Reward: Claim the Engineer class for free—this is one of the best loot rewards in the game and crucial for beginner solo runs.

Summary: Loot System Key Points

  • Scrap is your permanent progression currency.
  • Crates give new weapons and resources; always prioritize high-tier crates.
  • Mystery Boxes give temporary bonuses and can save difficult waves.
  • Properly managing loot allows you to upgrade faster, survive longer, and tackle Wave 100 efficiently.
