The Bubblegum Machine was a specialized trait-granting mechanic in Steal a Brainrot, introduced on Friday, July 18th, 2025. It was the first machine in the game’s history dedicated to applying “Traits” rather than “Mutations.” Although it was eventually retired to make way for the Fuse Machine, it remains a nostalgic piece of the game’s early industrial era.

[!IMPORTANT] This machine is currently Unavailable. It can only be accessed if a developer (Sammy) manually spawns it or through the use of the Admin Machine.

Appearance and Design

  • Base Model: A classic gumball dispenser-style structure with a large glass globe filled with colorful “bubbles.”
  • Structure: Unlike most machines that sit on the right side of the shop, the Bubblegum Machine was uniquely positioned elsewhere, making it the first and only machine to break the standard shop-side layout.
  • Theme: It utilized a playful, candy-themed aesthetic to match the Candy Mutation event that was active during its release.

History and Release

  • Release Date: Friday, July 18th, 2025.
  • Status: Inactive/Retired (Replaced by the Fuse Machine).
  • Chronology:
    • Previous Machine: Rainbow Machine.
    • Next Machine: Fuse Machine (Added August 1, 2025).
  • Replacement Reason: The machine was removed when Candy Brainrots were phased out and replaced by Lava Brainrots, rendering its primary fuel source obsolete for standard players.

Mechanics and Usage

The Bubblegum Machine functioned as a passive “buff” station for the conveyor belt rather than a direct crafting tool.

  • Input Requirement: 10 Candy Mutation Brainrots.
  • Activation Process: Feeding 10 Candy units into the machine powered it up for a limited duration.
  • Outcome: While active, random Brainrots walking down the Red Carpet (conveyor) had a small chance to be hit by a bubble, granting them the exclusive Bubblegum Trait.

Role in the Meta and Economic Analysis

The Bubblegum Trait provided a significant boost to a unit’s value and income. During its peak, it was one of the only ways to stack multiple modifiers on a single unit, as traits and mutations occupy different “slots.”

The Trait Multiplier:

  • Effect: Units with the Bubblegum trait typically received a 4x to 6x income multiplier (varying slightly by update balancing).
  • Stacking: Because it is a trait, it could be combined with a mutation (like Diamond or Gold), allowing for “money-printing” setups that were previously impossible.

Strategies

Efficiency Strategy During the event, players would “trash” low-rarity Candy units into the machine to keep it powered 24/7. This maximized the chance of a high-rarity unit (like a Secret) spawning with the Bubblegum trait already applied.

Legacy Collecting Since the machine is removed, “Bubblegum” units are now considered Legacy/Limited. Collectors often trade high-tier Secrets specifically for units that still possess this trait, as it cannot be naturally obtained on the map anymore.

Trivia and Cultural References

  • Pioneer Machine: This was the first machine in the game dedicated to Traits rather than global events or mutations.
  • Fuel Change: The machine was retired largely because its fuel—Candy Brainrots—became unobtainable when the Lava Update launched on July 25, 2025.
  • Visual Quirk: It is the only machine that does not consistently spawn on the right side of the Shop area.
  • Admin Exclusive: Today, if an admin spawns the machine, it usually arrives “pre-filled,” meaning players do not need to provide the 10 Candy units to activate it.
