Update 12 went live at 2:00 PM PT on August 15, syncing with our usual Friday weekly refresh. The launch was kicked off with a Brazil-themed Admin Abuse event, where developers spawned exclusives and increased the spawn rates for high-value brainrots.
New Features and Mechanics
Update 12 introduces new collectible brainrots and interactive events.
The Sammy Statue
A key addition was the Sammy statue, an NPC based on developer SpyderSammy. During the update the statue appeared for one minute to spawn an exclusive brainrot before vanishing.
Brazil Trait and Event
This update introduced the Brazil trait. During the launch’s Admin Abuse session, a Surprise Brazil event was triggered. When this global event is active, there is a chance for brainrots on the field to be hit with the Brazil trait, which grants a 5x generation boost. The event also allows players to perform rituals, such as arranging specific brainrots into shapes, to summon enhanced versions.
Matteo Ritual Rework
The Matteo Ritual has been updated. It now requires three Matteos to complete. Take three matteos and stand on top of each other, this will start the ritual and spawn trees in the base. A successful ritual rewards the new matteo trait and unlocks the “Los Matteos” secret brainrot.

Rare Brainrot Spawns
During the launch window, rare brainrots like Matteo, Chimpanzini Spiderini, and La Vacca Saturno Saturnita appeared at increased rates.
Global Trait Activation & Server Performance
For the initial hours of the update, all traits were activated globally. This created a chance for any brainrot to be hit by a trait, leading to large generation boosts across servers. However, this caused significant lag and performance issues, particularly due to the flashy animations and particle effects from the Brazil event, which some players dubbed an “epilepsy mess.” The development team has acknowledged community feedback regarding photosensitive concerns and performance.

Looking Ahead
Despite the performance issues, community feedback has been largely positive. The team is looking into hotfixes to address the lag and visual effect concerns. No new codes were released with this update. For the latest information, please check the official Discord or the Brazilian Spyder group.
